Florida Center for Recovery (FCR) offers a specialized substance abuse treatment program for Members of Military, National Guard/Reserves, Veterans, and First Responders such as the Firefighters, Police Officers, Emergency Dispatchers, EMTs and all others who keep us safe. Our program includes treatment for work-related traumatic events that in many cases manifest in a wide range of conditions affecting mood, thinking, thoughts and behavior.

Based on our comprehensive understanding of these population's special needs, the addiction treatment program offered is focused on addressing the unique challenges of this group.

Upon admission, each individual is given a thorough medical exam, a psychiatric evaluation and further comprehensive assessments. For those diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) our program offers specialized trauma therapy through Rapid Resolution Therapy®(RRT) — one of the nation’s most successful therapy programs for healing trauma to date.

We understand the unique workplace challenges faced by first responders. They are exposed to danger, distress, chaos, injury and tragedy, which over time lead to problems with substance use and abuse. Addressing these challenges is the foundation of FCR’s approach to helping these populations.

Our certified staff is experienced in identifying and resolving challenges such as:

  • Work-related traumatic events
  • Guilt about breaking the public trust
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Drinking culture
  • Difficulty asking for help
  • Mistrust in mental health professionals
  • Fear of disappointing their co-workers
  • Emotional distance
  • Identity conflict
  • Transitional challenges
  • Family challenges

Florida Center for Recovery utilizes the 12-Step model and fosters participation in programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous to support lifelong recovery. In addition, we offer SMART Recovery (Self-Management and Recovery Training), an evidence-based 4-Point Program that employs a variety of tools and techniques to help individuals gain independence from addiction and addictive behaviors. SMART Recovery program participants are guided through a self-paced workbook that focuses on identifying and changing unwanted behaviors through Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT).

As a leader in the field of addiction treatment, FCR recognizes that recovery is a personal and individual journey. Our goal in providing specialized addiction treatment for Military Members and First Responders is to get these men and women physically, emotionally and spiritually healthy and back to their calling.
